For many people with a disability, the concept of “development” can be a foreign one. It’s a word that carries with it the connotations of a ‘lack of development’, as opposed to a person who has developed into a skilled adult. As the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) continues to grow, many people will be finding that they are no longer able to live independently in their community. This means that they will need to find ways to learn new skills and develop new life skills in order to live in the community and continue to contribute to their family and community.
